WHERE DOES SPIRULINA COME FROM ?

Spirulina is a microscopic seaweed in the shape of spiral is appeared from more than one billion years, which grows in alkaline hot water. This microalga was already used as food by the Aztec civilization. The scientists rediscovered it only 30 years ago. Today, many humanitarian programs are developped to cultivate spirulina to fight against nutrition problems in the world.

• Spirulina is an exceptionally rich and complete food and its nutrients are easily assimilable. Its nutritive composition is close to Chlorella but it contains less chlorophyl and so few vitamin C. But the calcium content is higher in spirulina.

• Very rich in proteins (60 to.70%), spirulina contains more vegetable proteins than any other food which   makes an ideal food for Vegetarians.

• It contains also many vitamins :

- A large quantity of beta-carotene (provitamin A) which is 10 times higher than in carrots.

- Many vitamins of the group B of which is the important vitamin B12 for the vegetarians. This one is   essential for the nerves and tissues.

- Vitamin E

• Full of Minerals, spirulina contains a strong level of calcium, magnesium and iron.

• Full of essential fatty acids, it is also one of the best sources of gamma-linoleic acid after the breast-feeding.
